NRL Tackle Clinics are an exciting addition to the Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Prof. Marcos Nevel has been appointed as the official tackle coach to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks NRL team in 2018.
Previously Prof. Marcos Nevel was the NRL Bulldogs grappling coach from 2011 to 2018. Marcos inspired a marked change in dominance around the ruck and on the ground. In a short period of time a great improvement in their defensive game could be seen. By now every NRL club acknowledges the importance of mastering grappling techniques, with Melbourne Storm setting the benchmark for almost a decade. Tackling is a major part of Rugby League, the influence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques is undeniable. Especially for use in the ruck area, holding players down for example. Jiu-Jitsu techniques are not only employed at the elite NRL level, but in junior Rugby League as well.
Since I started training with Marcos in 2012 I found my tackle efficiency and defence improved dramatically. He helped me on little details which gave me a huge advantage in my sport. During preseason the workouts are extremely challenging cardio wise and it’s something that you can only get on the mats. I would happily recommend him and Mauricio to anyone looking to improve their bjj, wresting or all round fitness.
Prof. Marcos Nevel can demonstrate several moves used by professional NRL teams. Your team as well can learn how easy it is to bring someone down by using effective Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. Marcos does not teach anything illegal, no grapples or holds that are banned. Jiu-Jitsu is called ‘body chess’ because for every move there is a counter move. Then a counter to that, the moves are truely infinite. The key is to be able to stop your opponent, if someone wants to hold you, you need to know how to react. Where to put your hands, where to put your body. You want to be able to control the wrestle on the ground with leverage, balance and technique. Jiu-Jitsu techniques are all about being stronger on the ground. Techniques on how to hold and maintain balance on the ground, how to slow players down, tackle better and quicker. The Jiu-Jitsu techniques are adapted to make them specific to Rugby League.
NRL at the elite level is a high intensity, combative sport that is uncompromising in nature and unforgiving for teams who are unprepared for the demands of the game. A key aspect of NRL is the ability to dominate the ruck and compete at playing the ball in defense and attack. Marcos is a key member of coaching staff and is highly respected by the players for his non-compromising approach to teaching key skills found in Jiu-Jitsu to improve their on field performance.
Now your Senior or Junior NRL Club can benefit from Marcos’ extensive knowledge and improve the performance of your players. With the help of Marcos your teams tackle techniques in defence will improve both physically and mentally. Contact Us Now to find out more.
